Loot

Action : Allan Amin
Cinematography : Surendra Reddy
Choreography : Pinky, Raju Goswami
Producer: Shabbir Boxwala, Anup Gandhi
Director: Rajnish Raj Thakur
Released Date: November 04, 2011
Loot revolves around four characters Pandit (Govinda), Akbar (Jaaved Jaafery), Builder (Suniel Shetty) and Wilson (Mahaakshay Chakraborthy). All happen to be small time robbers and cons and are called together to execute a big heist planned by Batlivala (Dalip Tahil). The four are set out to Pataya to pull off a robbery of jewels. But expect the bumbling thieves to fill their plans with errors and they never fail you.
So the team of Hindi film industry's old times Govinda, Suneil Shetty and Jaaved Jaafery come together for a film as hackneyed and tripe as themselves. Produced by Suneil Shetty himself, Loot has the three coming together in an attempted comedy directed by debutant filmmaker Rajnish Raj Thakur. Whether the comedy tickles people's funny bones or not remains to be seen.

A shoddy rip off of Hollywood flick Crime Spree, Loot clearly has a very jaded feel to it. Not only has the film been in the pipelines since a very long time (easily noticeable from Mahaakshay's hefty appearance), even the filmmaking sensibilities are very trite.

One can easily point out that there have been no efforts on writing the script or the screenplay as the film is a scene by scene lift off. However, it wouldn't be wrong for one to expect at least some amount of execution put behind this copied copy too. But debutant filmmaker beats you even at that.

The entire film is mired by tawdry situations, tacky production values and aching dialogues. So much so that you feel like storming out of the theater. Almost 80 per cent of the dialogues rhyme for no rhyme or reason making you wonder if the characters on screen are trying to play antakshri.
Govinda, Suneil Shetty and Jaaved Jaafery put together could make up for a very good comedy as one cannot doubt their comic timing. If only the filmmaker could tap that.

Mahaakshay is a complete disaster and is one of the sort points of the film. Shweta Bhardwaj barely has scenes in the film. Ravi Kissen's plot is completely wasted and he only reminds you of the painful film Chitkabrey.

Mika and Kim Sharma yet again are wasted, not that Mika as an actor could be tapped better. The biggest waste of a resource is of Mahesh Manjrekar. An actor of his caliber could really do wonders in the film but sadly gets reduced to doing his hackneyed act of his earlier times.

Rakhi Sawant's item number comes right towards the end credits and by then you are already out of the theater running for your lives. Mika's promotional track doesn't exist in the film while Music overall is best avoided. On the whole, Loot robs you off your sanity. Watch it at your own risk.

I Am Number Four

Genre:Science Fiction
Director: D.J. Caruso
Cast:Alex Pettyfer, Timothy Olyphant, Teresa Palmer, Dianna Agron, Kevin Durand, Callan McAuliffe
On the way to the I Am Number Four screening, my son gave me the rundown on everything I might need to know going into the film. He read the popular novel on which the film is based, so I looked to him as my resident Number Four expert. "It's a lot like a young Superman," he told me. "They come from another planet and possess supernatural powers." He reported that the source material was intriguing and left him wanting more. I, in turn, am here to report that the cinematic adaptation of I Am Number Four also left me wanting more, though maybe I should say "anything" instead of "more" -- anything that remotely separated this movie from any other run-of-the-mill teen emo-actioner.

Alas, the film delivers nothing on that front; it is essentially a carbon copy of every similar-themed picture that has pandered to self-centered teen moviegoers for decades. The Superman comparison was an apt one, though I remember Clark Kent's internal struggle being far more engaging than the plight of "John Smith" (Alex Pettyfer), this film's titular character. He is the fourth in a line of gifted extra-terrestrials from a war-ravaged home planet who are being hunted and killed, in sequence, by a different race of aliens with an aim to pillage and plunder the solar system for...power or energy or whatever the typical world-domination goals are. The first three have been eliminated, and "John" is...yeah, you know. Naturally, his earthly goal is to blend in and not cause any stir that could signal he is different from the run-of-the-mill humans that surround him (hence the purposely general adopted name). The fact that he is a teen Adonis probably doesn't help in the way of "blending in." On top of that, the fluorescent high-beams that shoot out of his palms when he gets angry (you won't like him when he's angry) make it nearly impossible.

What do those light-up hands do? They can fling human beings into trees, stop moving vehicles, and make for some pretty embarrassing high school scenarios -- poor old Number Four sprouts his powers in the middle of history class and has to hide in the supplies closet to keep from causing a scene. A pubescent combination of preppy bullies and burgeoning alien-on-human love causes this other-worldly transformation to take place, an unfortunate development considering such powers will certainly bust "John's" cover. See, since his escape to Earth, Number Four has been on the run from the Mogadorians, and if the name "Mogadorians" is the kind of gobbledygook that makes your eyes roll, just wait till you see their heavily made-up appearance. These alien predators look like rejects from the Harryhausen School of Kitsch, and yet the film treats them with such earnest dread that it's impossible not to cringe every time they appear on screen.

Equally cringe-worthy is the angst-ridden romance between Number Four and "teen photographer genius" Sarah (Diana Agron), which functions as a male-centered version of Twilight -- heavy on brooding romanticism and light on believability. The lovey-dovey subplot is just one of many distracting off-shoots tacked onto the film's basic innocent-on-the-run structure; they blend unevenly to produce an often-disastrous mess of hormonal rage and faux-testosterone. Character relationships are broadly drawn as caricatures of common stereotypes, and the action scenes are marred by hideous CGI and a style that so greatly aspires to the epic that it forgets to make basic visual sense.

Michael Bay-wannabe D.J. Caruso directed the film, and I suppose it's one point of praise that I Am Number Four -- aliens and all -- is still slightly more believable than the director's previous film, Eagle Eye. Another compliment: Caruso seems to work well with actors, since the cast acquits itself fairly well under the circumstances. Timothy Olyphant is an obvious highlight, as he always is, though the film suppresses his kink more often than not. Besides, this is not a film that can be easily saved by actors. A new script, maybe, with more attention paid to ideas -- both visual and emotional -- that could make the film feel new, even if its themes are well-worn. As it stands, I Am Number Four just blends in with the lowest common denominator. My son left disappointed, and I left incredulous.

Blades of Glory - Review
Autor: BenPadnos

Set for release on March 30, 2007, Blades of Glory from Dreamworks is a sports comedy directed by Josh Gordon and Will Speck and Produced by Ben Stiller.

Will Ferrell and Jon Heder are the lead "pair", who exploit a loophole to do their act in this movie - which is to "Kick some Ice".

So, welcome to the world of competitive figure skating - and all its passion and power generated by an unlikely pair who aim to steal the trophy, beating the odds. Two men skating together -- Chazz Michael Michaels (Will Ferrell) and Jimmy MacElroy (Jon Heder) - become the first male pair in the history of figure skating!

As aintitcool.com states, 'figure skating for the first time ever is finally watchable. Also, hilarious.

Blades of Glory is about two rival figure skaters (Ferrell and Heder) who after a fight with each other in front of 30,000 fans, have their gold medals stripped from them and are banned from competitive skating for a lifetime.'

Three years down the line, one is many pounds heavier while the other is still girlish, but still not "hot". Both agree to put aside their differences as well as their similarities - they're both men! --and exploit a loophole (created exclusively for the movie) that would allow them to compete in the pairs figure skating category.

This category is, of course, usually reserved for opposite-sex couples and this duo must go face-to-face with fierce competition from rivals far more experienced at the art, such as Stranz (Will Arnett) and Fairchild (Amy Poehler), the unrelentingly competitive reigning champion pair.

'Amy Poehler and Will Arnett (as evil brother and sister figure skaters) manage to steal almost every scene they're in. There are some really great moments including a hilarious ice skate chase and some very funny ice routines (that i won't spoil). The ice skating was never boring. And the costumes are as funny as the people wearing them, especially the outfits given to Poehler and Arnett. Also, Jenna Fischer has never ever looked as hot as this. Purr-Rawrr.'

This very funny movie was shot in both Los Angeles, California and Montreal, Quebec (Canada).

Learn To Play Guitar Tips and Resources

Learning to play guitar is an exciting and enriching activity that can bring hugh rewards in self confidence and personal satisfaction. Guitar provides gratification for people and learning to play guitar is just one way that you can have this enjoyment for yourself and others. The method you decide to use to LEARN TO PLAY GUITAR is up to you. While playing is not something you pick up overnight, it’s not impossible to play a guitar. It just takes determination and practice...practice...practice!

Guitar:
Guitars come in all sizes, shapes and types. There is the acoustic guitar which has a hollow body and doesn't require an amplifier, although some do have pickups mounted on them for playing through an amp for more sound. These guitars can be played with either steel strings or nylon (more for classical style) on them. Some are flat and arched tops, and come with different width necks and scale lengths. You can buy a 6 string or a 12 string acoustic guitar. There is also the electric guitar which is played through an amplifier. These are somewhat easier to note than the acoustic because the strings are not as heavy a gauge and usually the strings are closer to the frets so it take less effort for your fingers to note the strings. If you're looking to buy your first guitar start small by buying an inexpensive one or borrow one from your friend. Before buying a guitar you should get some advice form a guitar teacher or someone that knows the guitar on how to decide whether you should learn to play guitar on an acoustic or electric guitar, and just what to look out for if you choose to buy a used guitar.

Lessons:
Today with the Internet, computers and video, guitar lessons can be taken as if you had a guitar teacher, showing you where to place your fingers, the fine points of picking, and what pentatonic scales sound like, all in high definition video. There are video lessons of impressive quality for any style of guitar playing. There are CDs with information on almost any style of guitar playing you can think of. There are hundreds of web sites that even offer free lessons, most of which are very well created and can certainly be applied to your practice habit.

Strings and Tuning:
There are many different varieties and gauges of strings. There are strings that are steel, nylon, bronze plated, nickel plated, flat wound, round wound, light gauge, heavy gauge, etc. In the early stages of practice, when you're learning how to play the guitar, your fingers will become sore and tender from noting the strings, but over time they will become hard and calloused.
Tuning your guitar involves adjusting the pitch of each string so that they play the correct note. Tightening the tuning peg raises the pitch of a string, while loosening the peg lowers the pitch. Since beginners usually have a hard time telling whether or not a string is in tune just by ear, it is often a good idea to purchase an electronic tuner.

Beginner:
Start with proper training from the beginning regardless of what type of lessons you choose, and learn to play guitar the right way before bad habits are formed. Start with a beginner program and then progress from there as your ability and understanding grows.

Learning to PLAY GUITAR is like many other activities, it takes effort and determination but the reward is very much worth the effort. Learning to play guitar is like learning any other skills. One important thing to keep in mind when learning how to play guitar is that playing should be enjoyable. Learning to play guitar is like a long journey...you don't get there overnight.
